Ikarian Thrift (Armeria icarica)

Thrift is a herbaceous plant, that is between five and 10 cm in height. It can be found within the family Plumbaginaceae. The leaves are between 10 and 45 cm long. They are linear, smooth and have no hair. The flowers are pink and have bracts (leaf like structures) (1).
It is a perennial species that starts its growth during spring and dies back at the end of summer. It blooms during spring and summer (1).
This species prefers sunny and rocky areas, with well drained and dry soils that can protect it from rough and moist winters (1).
It is native to the Greek island of Ikaria (2).
It is not mentioned on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (2)
